These amazake candies are made using sake lees from “Chitose Tsuru,” a sake brewed with groundwater from the Toyohira River, which originates in the lush mountains of southern Sapporo.
“Chitose Tsuru” is a renowned sake brand from Hokkaido that has won the Gold Prize at the National New Sake Competition for 14 consecutive years.
Romance Seika was founded in 1947, in the town of Tsubetsu in eastern Hokkaido. Since then, the company has been producing confectionery products—primarily candies—starting with malt syrup made from locally grown potato starch.
The packaging features a simple design with white as the primary color. Since the candy is made from sake lees amazake, it features an illustration of the sake-making process.
The individual wrappers for the bagged amazake soft candies all feature the same design.
